Eben, in all seriousness.....family has to come first. There will always be time to fish......take care of those kids, time goes by very quickly so enjoy the moments you will have with them. There will always be time to slip away and get some fishing in.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

before the baby arrives - right now s/he easily (sort of) goes with mamma - you will need to have a sit down and discuss your fishing time. - whoever needs to fish monm or pop or both.

Think about the best times to fish. maximize your time at the water. If you dont do it now you will end up resenting the kid for the first year or two.

you both will need time away from the kid.
Sit down and figure out how you will do it NOW.

plan plan plan

Wow resenting a kid because you could'nt fish. That's a fish addict if I've ever heard one. I've heard of resentment because of a different father or something but over fishing time. I better have a fishing plan when my wife gets pregnant.

chipwood.... sarcasim... its sarcasim. I'm tickled to be a dad, just thought I'd do some sarcastic venting. Yes i'm bummed I'll miss the fall run, but the payoffs will be far far greater.

I missed the fall run last season. It's a badge of honor we should pass around

actually, not sarcasm.
its how some kids end up getting abused.

it is not intentional

cant go fishing guys. I have to wathc the baby.
cant go drinking. Have a baby.
cant watch th superbowl here... baby.
baby baby baby.

after a while, if you have not already worked out how you will share time away from the baby you run the risk ofe developing a resentment.

This is very common and not something that is easily noticed.
it develops slowly. after 9 months of the little pooper taking up all of your previously free time you will see.

My boys are now 15.5 and 13.5
There was a long stretch where I had no time for myself.
It is very important that you plan it out before you need it.
that way it is fair for both of you.

no sarcasm just reality for- many people.
not all, and perhapse not most.
been there done that. communication is key.
if you have a problem discuss it.

I have been with my wife 17 years.
We have yet to have even a shouting match.
My older boy got honor roll.
My youger boy has done so too.
Proud Papa? You bet!!
