Goals

I set a few goals for myself at the beginning of the summer. One of which was to catch a keeper from shore. I've caught enough fish from a boat to think that this goal would be easily attenable. And I could then adjust my goal to a 20 #er... well it took a little bit longer than I had planned, but tonight I caught two keepers. Best night of fishing (for me) in my life.

I started with a needlefish, but I got no action (it wasn't a HABs, which must be the reason), so on a reccomendation from a tackel shop over-the-brigdes, I broke out a home rigged Slug-go... thanks Steve.

First cast pow!!! He pulls some drag but not much. However I still have a hard time getting him on the rocks because Alex is thowing swell after swell at me... I stay cautious. I get the 28"off the hook and lay him on the only rock around for a sneak picture before I release it back into the drink,,, he goes belly up for 30sec and than he;s gone

Second fish was bigger... maybe 30", but a had some difficulty removing the hook, I had him so long on the rocks that I skipped the photo shoot and tossed em back

Recap - I caught my first two keepers, that I didn' keep... there still swimm'n out-there. I'll hopefull get more, I will keep one that I know we'll have time to eat it.

Next goals -
Sunday Falmouth Road Race (approximately 1 Hour) :WID::
Monday or Tuesday canal-fish

Funny this thread should come up-

This spring I had an unspoken goal to catch a bass of at least 30 lbs before I became a dad in late august...up until tonight I thought I was going to come up short and feel like I had failed at my goal. Well she's due august 20th and this week is the last week I can go out, so what do you think happens? I caught a 31 lber

thank you god

I bought some special weights that I stuck into the slug-go. Two on either side of the head and one in the tail... they cast well. I fished 'em just like a freshwater PowerSlug. Expect I do not bury the hook into the Slug-go.

Nice fish Eben. We have to adjust our goals...

Good luck with the new edition

It's great to set goals like that!

I do the same for every season, and I work hard to achieve them.

There is nothing more rewarding

I'm raising the bar constantly!
