Overwrap for slippery grips

Does anyone ever wrap over their spinning reel seat with something to give a better grip? I was thinking of like athletic tape or something similar...any thoughts?

When I played hockey we used Friction tape, it is kind of sticky at first but after a few nights it would be perfect.

Question

Spence,

I havent tried it but have seen it done using golf club wrap. THey sell a two sided liquid activated wrap that adhere's the grips to what ever you putting it on.

You can also use some heavy cord and crosswrap it over the grips if you want. Heavy EE rod thread will work in a pinch also.

What kind of grips are on your rod? If its EVA or Hypalon you can sometimes just scuff it up with some semi coarse sandpaper and that will help.

Question

Just re-read your post. Are you talking just the reelseat area?

If so then the cross wrap idea wont work.

But the golf club grip idea might?

Or just wrap some Tommy tape over the entire reelseat.
It sticks to itself but nothing else!

Regular cork tape grips. I'm more concerned with the actual reel seat being slippery when wet. I was going to try some different tapes but I thought someone else make have had the same issue.
