Fishing Cape Ann

Had a couple of free hours today!!! As I drove along the harbor I noticed the birds working and decided to hop in the boat and do a little fly fishing!!!

Had seven stripers on the fly in them 2 hrs. If it were the old days they would have been just right for the grill!!! But they were only about 16" long!!! Seems to be plenty of good fishing around when the birds are working!!!

Angry

Well, yesterday was a day off, so I took a co-worker with me : skunked : since saturday, the sea turned into a lake !!!
And I was so sure the day would be windy that I didn't even have my fly rod with me !!!

Sunday, some fish in 20 knts of wind.

Needlefish would hit of follow our Cordell Pencil poppers (unusual...), whereas bass could be caught on bottle poppers (yellow with black stripes).
I was wondering what made the difference ?
Straight swimming of the plug vs Walking the dog ?
Color ?
The blitzing effect of the bottle popper ?
