Darn Herring
Went to the local run and got my dozen this afternoon...then I drive to a state run that is just getting going and I work hard for two hours to get 9 more
So I got 21 right...I put the foam off, ammo lock and bait saver in appropriate portions....livewell is running steady....
so I finally get hoime about 11pm...you guessed it, 10 dead...11 in good shape....
So I change out 1/2 the water from the bottom drain...add 5 pounds ice...1/2 doses of the three chemicals....now it is 1am
Time to go to bed
I just know that there will be 5 more dead along with the battery in the truck by wake up at 4
why do I do this every darn year...I hate herring

BP!
Does your livewell have a source to introduce oxygen to the water?
Tonight Fishaholic and I went out hunting those happy fish and
were using my livewell which doesnt have the above! We lost a few so we decided rather than bust our a$$ and have them die we would get his well that has a tube that introduces oxygen!
Went out to complete our limit of happy "ALIVE" STRIPER CANDY!!!

I use to do the Herring dance in my younger days but find it just not as much fun anymore. Will fish them dead or alive but as 179 said don,t know if its worth the effort? Hows the boat and engine 179? Do you have her smelling all fishy yet?

GBOUTDOORS,
Your right about the herring, this might be my last season doing the herring fire drill..
The boat is great I don't have alot of time on it yet but it's a big improvement over my old 202. The Yamaha 150 is a strong motor. I'm getting close to 45-mph loaded up on fuel and gear. Fishy smell well other than a few schoolies gracing her deck she hasn't seen alot of action...

For all that time and effort you spent chasing bait you could have been fishing. Think Sluggos and Fin-S...................

Dead Herrings
Additional usage: Dead herrings work just as good as live ones, if you use them to trap coyotes in Hull.
