Another Sealer Question

I dont have tons of time to spin as much wood as I like...so my question is this...I have read in other threads that you use Boiled Linseed Oil and Mineral Spirits...60-40 I think..cant remember which one is 60 and which one is 40....but will that mixture go bad? Can I leave it out or is it best to mix it and use it? I would like to be able to mix it in a container and leave it so I can seal the plugs as I turn them. Thanks, Jay

60 boiled linseed oil/40 mineral spirits....I mixed mine about 5 month ago and have been using it without any problems....I let mine dry for a week after dipping it for 60 seconds. Just cover it when you are done....I have mine in a piece of pvc pipe with a sealed cap on the bottom and when I am done I just put a cap on the top....it sits in a rack that I made to hold it upright.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I just look, squint an pour turp's in it....same as linseed....soak the plug[as long as you want] pull out,,let drip a few min's,,WIPE off,,let dry overnite....drying will depend on how warm your hanging spot is....mine that I do, are dry by the time I get down to work on them the next nite.

If I forget to wipe them off...the oil on the surface gets like rock an is a bear to sand.....wil-bond will cut it to get the hard dry stuff off.

BOAT fish do count.

What he said.U know i have this penetrating sealer that I use for porus stone>\ i gotta try it on wood.some stones are like a sponge an this stuff.makes em water tight.its thin an penetrates well not as toxic as some other stuff.goes bout 40 dollars a pint. Its by far the best IMHO.did some stain testing on some sealed limestone Redwine, ketchup mustard which by the way is a muther no stains.water beads up like a wax the thing i gotta see is if primer/paints will stick.
