Needlefish History Presentation Driving Directions

Some driving directions for those of you who have expressed interest in coming the the Needlefish History Presentation in Newport on Jan 20th. Still plenty of seats available for any other interested fishermen. PM or email me for reservation.
zambrotd@nwc.navy.mil

Directions to the Needlefish History Presentation at the Newport Yacht Club on Long Wharf, Newport.
For those coming across the Newport Bridge: Take the first exit off bridge (downtown Newport). Take right at end of ramp. Go straight at first traffic light - you will be on Farewell Street which has cemeteries on each side. Take right at second traffic light onto America's Cup Ave. Stay on America's Cup ave through two more traffic lights. At third traffic signal ( you will see a Gap Store on your right) take a right onto Long Wharf. Yacht Club is about 100 yards down Long Wharf on left. Parking lot on premises, if full park on Long Wharf (parking meters not in season).

From Mass: Take Rt 138 or 114 into Newport. 138A will bring you into Newport via Memorial Blvd. 114 will bring you into Newport via Broadway. Follow signs to downtown Newport. Look for America's Cup Ave and Gap Store. Long Wharf is only a 1/4 mile long. Yacht Club is on water side of street.

Looks like a full house tonight - I have reservations for approx 30 non - members and have to cut it off there. See you all tonight - the place will be staffed shortly after 6pm. Parking will be tight so don't overlook parking on Long Wharf and adjacent streets - parking meters are NOT in effect so don't dump any coins in them.
Looking forward to meeting many of you for the first time.

Thanks Guys - didn't quite go as smooth as I wanted on my end - had trouble reading my notes and was a little tounge tied.

I think Eben fell asleep when he kicked the plug out but that's to be expected from a guy with baby deprived rest

Victor - What Flat Rock? You're hallucinating from lack of fish. That rock is out there but there are a couple dozen more just as good.

Thanks for all your fine company and friendly conversation - makes the winter go a little quicker.

Thanks to Habs and Pt Jude Joe for the raffle prizes.

Excellent presentation Dennis. It was well worth the trip from Western Mass. Nice needle fish plugs you had there. Look forward to hearing your snow storm Blitz talk.

Yup, DZ knows needlefish - great presentation, D

Good to see a lot of the S-B gang there -

I would have gotten around more but I had to keep an eye on Vic around the needlefish collection Dennis had on display

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
