Saturday Got to see Cathy Becks and Mark Sedotti. Two excellent casting demos. I'm pretty sure there back to back on Sat.

Saturday was pretty good. Friday was dead, much to my surprise. I bet there were some great "fire" sales today...

Steelhead, I noticed in your box of flies a long flatwing with a full body. Do you tie the bodies hollow style or is it just flare?

Flared bucktail collars

With a flare. Depending on the profile I'm looking for, I'll do different things with the profile of the front of the body and also where I take the hair form the bucktail. I find it easier to do this way than to do the reverse tie, especially if I'm doing three colors, one for the belly, one for the sides and another for the topping. I also like to change the length of the bucktail from short, to longer, to longest as I go from the belly to the top of the fly. It seems to give me a fishier profile in the water. More tapered like a small baitfish. Ultimately, it's personal preference. Each technique will get you to pretty much the same place.

Sounds like you have it down to a science. I know I got one of yours in a swap last year and it's to nice to fish. If you ever put on a demo anywhere again please post it. I'd really like to get a lesson.

I'm going to be at First Light Anglers in Rowley on the evening of Feb 9. Free. Bring beer and your tying stuff.

There's a regular gathering of guys down Newport way on Tuesday nights that I try to get to once or twice a month. Always an interesting and lively crowd. Let me know if you want more info on that one. I just got back from it tonight....
