I've been noticeing lately more people wearing these bracelets and wondered what they stand for. It was interesting to find out that....the yellow bracelets support the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This foundation provides information about cancer and treatments and provides funds for finding a cure for cancer. It came about because Lance had testicular (or prostate?) cancer, but survived and started the foundation to help other survivors.

On the bracelets, you'll find the phrase "LIVESTRONG". Lance Armstrong is a famous cyclist who has won the Tour de France 6 times. He chose yellow for his bracelets because in the Tour de France the leader of the race is given a yellow jersey to show that he's the leader. However, the leader can only have it as long as he is in the lead. Should someone else push ahead into the lead, he must give up the jersey to the other person. Yellow represents leadership, determination, and a fighting spirit.

The bracelets can be bought for $1 (in America) at Foot Locker, Nike Town, and other places. You can also purchase packages of them (bracelets come in a package of 10) from the website laf.org. All proceeds go to the foundation.

Becareful, there are a ton of knock-offs going to greedy loosers that are taking advatage of the situation.

Knockoffs in every corner and/or bodega in nyc. think you can tell the difference by the "Livestrong" engraving is deeper on the originals or just go to autohorized retailer and get one.

I had organized a blood drive at work and the Red Cross was handing out red bracelets to promote or encourage people to donate blood. I was surprised how many walk-ins we had who just wanted the bracelet. There are several worthy causes using them now. I thnk it's a good way to show support.

I picked up a few directly from the Lance Armstrong foundation. You can google search for the foundation. That way I knew for sure I was dealing with the right folks

Delivery is a bit on the slow side and I think the purchase minimum is 10. It made my old mans day when I gave him his bracelet
