Northeast could see balmier climate....
Interesting article on Global Warming in the Northeast (too long to just copy here) http://www.msnbc.com/news/673855.asp

Federal studies forecast altered scenery, coast
By Michael Powell
THE WASHINGTON POST
NEW YORK, Dec. 17 — New England’s maple trees stop producing sap. The Long Island and Cape Cod beaches shrink and shift, and disappear in places. Cases of heatstroke triple.
AND EVERY 10 YEARS OR SO, a winter storm floods portions of Lower Manhattan, Jersey City and Coney Island with seawater. The Northeast of recent historical memory could disappear this century, replaced by a hotter and more flood-prone region where New York could have the climate of Miami and Boston could become as sticky as Atlanta, according to the first comprehensive federal studies of the possible effects of global warming on the Northeast....

Arghhhhhhhhh ---
Like most 'government' studies, results are often inconclusive, based on false assumptions, incomplete in their data sets, inaccurate in many measurements, driven by political motivation and siezed upon by agenda seeking groups - just for starters!!
Note that the report on the study makes virtually no mention of the hosts of scientist who presnet comparable data (and we know what that means) propounding a completely different view.
Now - remember a decade or more back when the 'bunny huggers' had their panties in a wad about acid rain. The sky was falling, New England was going to become a vast wasteland, water supplies would forever be undrinkable - yadda yadda yadda. Well - lo and behold a group of concerned scientist with private funding undertook a major study to determine the "HISTORICAL" record of acid rain. Gosh and By Golly --- as it turns out, thousands of core samples across the entire northern section of North America; especially from the Mid-West to New England showed that acid rain deposition in New Engalnd was many times greater way back even before the industrial revolution. And - did you ever see or hear about these results to the extent that the doomsdayers got their message out?? NO!
Global Warming?????????

Prince,
And don't forget those where the same people who, 10 years before that(!), were saying all the same things were about to cause a new ice age!
OTOH, this has (so far) been an amazingly mild fall/early winter. And the fish migrations have been very poor.
