First Shot at Making Plugs

I have been reading all these great post on lure making and had to give it a try. I bought a used lathe, and air brush a few dowels and now I am hooked, here is a photo of my first 3, any suggestions would be helpful, also I'm having trouble finding the center of the dowel does anyone have a hint.
Thanks
John H

Very nice Plum. You can get a centering jig at woodworkers wearhouse for a couple of dollars.

Much nicer than my first attempts.
