2 Stroke injection oil
How much injection oil do you use?
I'm running a Mercury Optimax 175
They tell you to use there super duper oil, at $24/Gal.
I'm burning a gallon a weekend, about 120 miles total.
Does that sound right?
Also, what RPM do you like to cruse out at? I'm just now slowing down a bit.
Early spring I'm so excited, I was running 5,000 rpm now backing off to see if that saves on Oil, and gas

I have a Johnson 150, I go through about a gallon for every 55 gallons of fuel.

I think the ratios are
50:1 at idle/troll
100:1 at WOT.
Around there..
Do the math and see if your using the proper amount.
The newer engines use much less than older models, check your book and see what the ratio should be.

Van you have it right but it is in reverse. The faster you go the more oil you going to use!! 50:1 WOT
My Yamaha is pretty good I think. I am not sure what I use per tank??
My motor is 1989 and I use walfart oil for like $7 a gallon and have never had a problem.

Ya,, I'm thinking go with the generic oil for 7 or 8 bucks VS Mercury Optimax specific for $24/Gal.
3 times the cost? think they are a little off.
My ratio would be about 1 gal. oil/50 Gal Gas that gets me 120 miles,,
2 trips to Jeffreys ledge.

macojoe's right. if you have and issue under warranty and your using the cheap stuff they won't stand behind the motor. been there don that. also cruising at 5000 rpm seems a little excessive. somewhere between 3500 and 4500 after planing is preferred cruise. less oil less fuel burn. just my $.02.

My Yamaha 150 HPDI hardly uses any oil. I think I only used 2 gallons of Yamalube last year with 130 gallons of gas, so that's a 65:1 ratio.
