RI Leg Results

How did everyone do last night. Northeast winds last year and this year my partner bailed at 11:30pm last night-sick kid at home. Still managed some fish but no entry due to being alone.

Under extraordinarily bassy conditions less the lousy wind, well, we didn't register anything either . Boat guys were doing well a half dozen casts away...

One $*(%( bloofish and a couple bumps on a home made darter and a cast off plug trying to get just past the last bump ((%*%(%(*. Got yelled at for letting the bloo go.... No holes though

Yeah, the tides weren't what I considered prime last night, the moon was bright as a bastard and the wind just plain sucked. But we gave it a fighting try and came up short. Oh well, that's fishin' I guess. I think this coming week with better tides, things will change. Got a new spot I want to check out...

The year long is 40" and the C&R $ Leg is 36" ....

Things seemed bassy last night, wish the wind was 50 degrees south

I feel like I am alone at the rim of the sea. For all you newbies. 40 years experience. Skunked for 10 days straight. I have fished the midnight/early morning tides everynight and my last decent fish (15#) was June 11.
It doesn't matter how much you know. There is a certain amount of luck in finding fish when it get like it has been. RIROCKHOUND and I have been West, East and in the Middle grounds and haven't found decent fish in the surf for over a week. Bryan has found fish in his boat but not from the suds.

No boat, back in the suds.

As the night wore on, I found myself all by myself.

Managed 2 small blues right off the bat, then nothing through several spots until I manged 1 bass about 24 inches (first RI bass of the year) and a blue fish that was so small that I couldn't even measure it at day break. Was about 8 inches long on teaser. The wind and tides definately were unfavorable. I even resorted to chum and chunkin with freah pogies for a bit. Nothing.

I'm stayin home from now on.

Come on you guys. You are all spoiled. This year you just gotta work a little harder for your fish. I admit to being skunked more than usual but it's not the kill. It's the thrill of the hunt. I still get excited about hitting a spot I haven't fished in a week with a new plug or some fresh eels.

Let's not make this into a JOB. It is suppose to be fun. Watch the sky, the waves, whatever. You never know when you are going to have some illness that will prevent you from being on the beach. Savor everytime you go as if it's your last.

No boat, back in the suds.

As an aside, I'm not getting in your boat again if you insist on wearing that multi-colored face paint ala Braveheart.

Funny. Someone else told me the same thing yesterday. It must be the lack of sleep.
