RE:b-bouy
That oil rig looking thing is just that... They bought an old oil rig platform from Brazil (I think it was Brazil) to support the ventilation and completion of the Deer Island waste treatment plant outflow. Remember those two guys that died of asphixiation last year on the Deer Island project? They had an air supply problem and were unable to be retrieved. This platform is being used to ventilate the entire system, something like 9 miles long. There is a fanned conduit going from the platform to the tunnel to suck the air out...
Targeting bluefish out there?? Pick up some mackerel and drift/sink to various depths. If you are lucky, there may still be some schools of live macs out there that you can get with a mackerel rig and keep live or freeze fresh... You probably don't want to anchor out there, its around 100+ feet and shoals up to 70-80 around the rig...

Thanks, John. Mr. Kav happens to be the guy who got the 15 lb blue last week that I posted about, so, as you can see, he really needs a lot of advice. Seriously, last week was his first time out there, so now he'll have to take me.

RE:b-bouy
Thanks for the info John. I will try the drift this weekend and let you know how I did. I tried for some mackerel hoping to be able to live bait one but I had no luck finding any around. I did anchor up there last weekend and was able to coax a nice bluefish into the boat but I can see where the drift would be more productive covering alot more ground. As for Steve in Mass, Those who ask questions are fool for a moment, Those who don't are a fool for life.

RE:b-bouy
No problem, glad to help out... IF you don't have mackerel jigs (christmas tree rigs), I'd definitely pick some up. If you pickup small blips near the surface on the fish finder, GET 'EM!!! They are great....
'Luck...

Ah, David my friend, you didn't think I was gonna let you get away with your first post on this forum without some ribbing, did ya? Just so everyone knows, Mr. Kav and I work together and often fish together, so I HAVE to needle him to keep him on his toes. Actually the first striper I ever caught was on his boat, as well as the first keeper I ever got. He has taught me a lot. Now if I can only convince him that fishin' Jersey in November is really worth it, and it really isn't that cold!

RE:b-bouy
Actually, call it global warming or whatever, or just good luck, but the past two years I have been there the week before Thanksgiving and at mid-day, I was out in shorts and a t-shirt. Of course, Mr. Kav and I went about four-five years ago on Thanksgiving weekend, and it was snowing when we left MA, and the only way we could stay on the beach was a bottle of.....well, leave that to your imagination!
