Installation of Fish Finder

Yup, we can install that fish finder - $230.00 / Yup I can install that for you, about 3 hours work at $60.00 an hour.

So I opened the bilge on the Cobia CC and looked for a channel to pull the transducer wire through by myself with a 25' snake thingie I have. Hey, what's that nylon thing attached to the side of the bilge? Seems to go forward. Then I look in console and hmmmm another one just like it going down into the hull. Wow, when I pull one end the other end moves.

Tie off the transducer cable to the nylon thingie and add the end of a 40 lb test line and wrap it with Tim Allen wonder stuff ( duct tape ) and pull it gently up to the console. Remove the transducer cable and use the 40 lb test to pull the nylon thingie back to the bilge and tie it off.

Template for the outside transom mount, template for proper angle, couple of small wire holder thingies. Now gotta get an end for the battery side of the wires in console and a clip to put on the ground.

Total time for wife ( she loved helping ) and me was about 2 hours for people with no experience.

I guess the marina would have told me only 1 hours work cuz they would have found that nylong puller themselves right ????

I hear that! Just went thru the exact same thing with my new boat. Marina said they'd install for $90/hr ($60 sounds like a deal). Then I decided to do it myself when one of the mechanics stated there was already a "chaser" (new term to me) was left there after the wiring for the motor was done. Sure enough, a yellow nylon rope was in the center console tied off and down to the transom. Total time about 45 minutes with my neighbor who actually does know what's going on (even knew the term chaser).

Now two of us have learned a new term. Got home today from P/T job that pays for boat and wife had gotten fuse and wired the mutha. Now we gots a working fish finder. Where da fish....Where da fish....

Good job !!

I try and do EVERYTHING myself, I've had work done at shops only to go back and do MY WAY (better). You learn lots every time. Now you know where other stuff is, and sometimes when you're in there you see another issue that should be taken care of and you do it.

Would the dealer to that ??? NOOOOOO!
