Meeting tonight re: access in Newport
There is a meeting tonight regarding the recent fencing off of Ruggles and several other spots in Newport.
6PM in the City Council Chamber in Newport. The surfers are certainly going to be in attendence, it would be great to see some more fisherman show up so our voices are heard. Especially since we pay $60 for these parking permits...

Damn! I wish I could go but I have "Kid Watch" tonight...
I encourage anyone that can make this, please do so, espcially if you are an island guy...
Thanks,
John...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Hey Pete, you can speak for me. I'm 1000 miles away in Atlanta at the moment and won't be able to get there, but if I was up there I'd be there.

I'll at most be a spectator. At this point, most of the guys who fish the areas in question have found ways around the barricades.
It's tough to say whether making any noise at this point will be useful. It may attract unwanted attention...

Unfortunately wasn't able to make it and haven't been in the area in a bit (was planning on this weekend depending on the weather) but keep us informed.
