Cape Cod Canal Striper Tournament
As posted in the Wareham Courier,
The Cape Cod Canal Reigon Chamber of Commerce is developing a new broder- based event in place of it's Annual Striper Tournament.
The tourny ran for 14 yrs, awarded an average of $10,000 annually in grants for marine education, conservation and fisheries resource management.
In short " The board felt that diminishing member intrest signaled that it was time for a change"
They will continue to fund some marine related programs.
In place of the tourny the chamber along with Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich ,Ma. are to pessent a 2006 spring pops concert.
I have not copied the article word for word , but I'm gonna miss the tee shirts.

That tournament was one of the contributing factors to the decimation of the herring at the canal run.
