Question AYC

I just bought my first Alaskan Yellow Cedar today . I hope it's cheaper on the East Coast than out here . What's the cost on the East Coast and how many people use it on a regular basis ?

I use it strictly. It's about $105 for 25 3' 2x2's shipped. Can't remember what it was at a place about 60 miles from me. Figured I'd save the gas money and just have it shipped

In Jersey I paid $2.72 each for 2"X2"X4'. The yield is better when using 4 foot pieces.
That is picking up. No shipping involved, just sales tax.

AYC Grain

Is the grain more consistent than in Red Cedar?

on select, you'd be hard pressed to any grain...number 2 is full of pitch/knots.

BOAT fish do count.

Steelhead...I just turned some of my first AYC. Seriously, you may never turn Red Cedar again.

Cool

I bought 2x6x8ft boards and ripped them myself . It sells for $7.00 a board foot . I don't know how that compares with the other examples , but at $7.00 a foot I'm saving the sawdust .
That being said , it is incredable wood , no grain and heavier than red cedar .
I'm sold.

wow, I pay less than half of that here. Worst part of it is that it has to be shipped out here from where you are.
