I have an older St.Croix ben doerr surf system 8 foot rod I will toss in for free.Rod is old but its in fine shape and matches this reel perfectly, This would be a light to medium setup with this rod...The rod has tons of karma !
It was a two piece that I epoxyed together so, now its a one . Action is fine and you cant tell the difference............

Bill;
Whats the difference between the old and the new?
I might be looking to upgrade; the abus are nice but need too much TLC for me, and am debating a calcutta or another 525mag for the spring, and 75 clams is a decent price....

surprise to hear that bryan? I fish those reels every night and never have a problem or much maint!
Anyway the differences are minor, little bit different handle etc, the big diff is the new drag in the reel but, I put it in this reel so, thats moot!
