What do you think of these new features for Striped-Bass.com?
Here are a few ideas on new features that might add to the experience here at striped-bass.com. Let me know what you think of these concepts.
News:
Daily updates regarding fish and fishing related info. This info would not necessarily be confined to New England but would include interesting news from anywhere.
Articles:
An ever expanding library of articles that could include stories on: helpful “how to” tips and techniques, fishing humor, travel, history, conservation, etc.
Free Stuff:
Images that could be downloaded as wallpaper, calendars, even e-cards that could be sent to fellow anglers (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
Animated gifs – cool and unique fish/fishing related animations
Video downloads or Streaming video – see short clips of fishing techniques: Ron Arra’s technique for distance casting, how to rig a live or dead eel, stripers underwater, tautog underwater, etc.
Flash presentations – combining sights and sounds of the surf to create a virtual fishing experience that would educational and entertaining.
Traveling Angler:
Info on angling destinations throughout the US and the world. What you can expect to catch when you get there and tips and techniques to help you catch that fish of a lifetime.
Events:
A continuation of the classic SB.com tournaments and other formal and informal get togethers and even seminars. A calendar of other events and tournaments and where they are being held.
Kids Corner:
Fun stuff for the youngsters we want to bring into the sport. Cartoons to color, find the hidden fish, etc.
Predator/Prey Info – “Match the Hatch” Library:
A constantly updated list of game fish with vital statistics and other interesting facts.
A constantly updated list of all the different prey items that game fish feed on with a look at the critters underwater (video, stills and animations) AND a look at lures, flies and live lining techniques that work when these are the targeted bait.
Cartoon:
Why not feature the talents of our resident comedian with a pen -- Mr. Bloocrab. He could have his own area with a library of his funny illustrations.
Tackle Manufacturer’s Area:
New product releases
Product reviews
Conservation Corner:
News and initiatives to help save our fish.
Underwater Reporter:
I’ll be happy to post images, video, and late breaking news on where the action is. This info won’t be so specific as to give away anyone’s favorite rock to fish from or honey hole to drop a bait into, however if Block Island is on fire or if they’re clobbering them on Cuttyhunk I’ll give you a heads up in much the same way as the fishing magazines do…only faster. I could bring you underwater to see: when the first herring show up, when the fluke start stacking up, etc.
I know this is a pretty lengthy “wish list” for the ultimate fishing web site but why not strive to be the very best.
Let us know what you think of these features and how interested you might be in each or any one of them. If you have any other ideas, let's hear them.

Great ideas I like them all but when will we have time to fish as it would be hard to leave all that info? Or is S.B going to give us all laptops so we can have all this new info on the water with us

GBOUTDOORS,
I guess we'll have to store all that info the old fashioned way -- stash it all in the old gray matter and hope we can download it when we need it...now where did I leave my truck keys?

Its was hard enough finding room on the boat for the tv and vcr so we can watch Mike Laptew's Secrets of the striper pros as we fish but I don't have any room left for rods and bait now!

I guess I should have looked at this post first.
Lots of cool stuff... definitely the predator/prey stuff, the traveling info, and conservation news would be things I'd be interested in.
The idea of fishing related news from all over is great. The more I learn, the more I realize that localized events can have far reaching implications, especially to a migratory species like stripers.
And some take kids fishing stuff would be awesome... alot of us have young kids and that could be a fun little get together.
