Unhappy Harwich Herring Run

Anybody know any info on the Harwich herring run off Depot St. on the Harwich/Dennis line. I was there many times last year, and luckily avoided the Herring Nazi and his $50 tickets.
Anybody get slapped with one of these infractions, and if so, did you pay?
Any repercussions for appeal?
Thanks,
Rick

I read on SOL that they are allowing non-residents 6 herring per day and residents 1 bucket full. Doesn't sound too fair does it? I would like to see someone challenge this but I bet the state won't bother. Pretty sad.

Isn't that the run that they used state money to rebuild and shut every nontowne out & violated court rulings. If so they gave up their rights to the run giving the state controol. The amount of fish is suppose to be the same for every resident in the state. I know they were arguing with the state about monitoring the run and who was going to pay for that.

I called the Mass fish and game. THey said to check with Division of Marine Fisheries in Bourne. The officer on the phone at Mass Fish and Game was of the opinion that the town could make the regulations, however that he thought the amount of herring per person had to be equal to residents, and non residents. I called DMF and they are closed I will try to call tomorow, but here is their number, maybe if they get enough calls they will step in. 508-563-1779.

Talking

Specialist,
Thanks for the info, I'll definately give those guys a call. I ran into a DMF officer down there last year; he told me he was waiting for the Nazi to make his appearance.
I wanted to wait for the fireworks, but the herring scales build up in my filter awful fast, if you know what I mean.
I should have the boat ready by early to mid May, just in time for the Watertown run. I hope all goes well with your test, drop me an email in like a month and I'll tell you how close I'm getting on the boat.
Later,
Rick
