Cleaning a plug before applying epoxy

What do folks use? Is it necessary to get a good bond between paint and epoxy? Should I spray a thin coat of uretahene, then epoxy, so that I have one consistent material for the epoxy to bons to if I've mixed paints? Oil base paint I assume I could use alcohol, but not acetone. What abouyt water based paint?

I never bother to clean mine any more, just be careful about handling the plug between steps until the epoxy is cured. I tried alchohol on Createx paints, once Smears it pretty well.

To further explain what jigman is saying... if you paint and clear right away without wireing, then you can get away without cleaning them, as your hands dont have to touch the paint.. But, if you paint, then wire, then clearcoat, you have to remove the oils left by your hands.

if you use createx, I have found that its best to hit them with a light coating of clear enamel right away before you wire, then afer wire use isopropal rubbing alcohol.
