Upcoming season

Well I will be boatless this year so it looks as though I am going to need a setup for the beach and a sticker for the truck, I think I have a pretty good collection of plugs and a bag and some waders which may be too hot! What I don't have is a rod and reel combo for the sand surf, what should I be looking for? Also can the Nauset sticker be obtained at the beach at any time, and when will stickers be available for Race Point? This will be a new adventure for me had some success fishing the canal but fishing the surf is virgin territory any tips for a greenie?

Arrow nauset stickers

vector...
the sales for the upcoming season for nauset stickers i believe start april 1st and they are good for the whole year, until the following march 31st. a 4x4 pickup cost 180 last year so who knows if it will go up this year.

you can buy the sticker after the summer for a half off rate that is good for the fall and winter into the spring. go to the town of orleans website and search the parks department. you should find all the info there that you'll need.

As far as a rod/reel setup goes it really only depends on how much you're willing to spend.

Just go see Mike

Batson SW 1088 for the rod. For the reel, maybe a Penn 560 Slammer, maybe a Stradic 6000 or 8000, maybe one of the new Penn SSm 6500s, or even a traditional Penn 704 if Mike has any left.

You'll be out the door either at or around $300 with a very versatile beach outfit. And 9' is all the rod you need for anywhere but the Canal.

In my opinion for overall versatility with one rod, a Lami 1213M with 1 foot cut from the butt built up as a spinning rod works for me. It is heavier than a graphite rod for sure but I really have not yet found anywhere that I have been under-gunned with it plugging, chunking or jigging. I prefer the slower action of fiberglass with the no stretch of braided fishing lines.
Matched with any of the aforementioned reels spooled up with the braid of your choice would be a great combo.

To those that understand no explanation is necessary. To those that do not understand no explanation will suffice. (Jerry Lewis)
