So When Do You Start Gearing Up?
With March 1st upon us and the best fishing shows of the season coming this month I was just wondering what sets your gears in motion as far as getting geared up (cleaning up tackle, putting new hooks on plugs...all that kind of stuff)? For me its always been seeing March 1st on the calendar! Thats when I begin cleaning the rods, organizing tackle, cleaning and restocking my tackle bags, cleaning my reels, sharpening hooks or replacing hooks on plugs, tying leaders for the season, making a short list of spots I want to fish and scoping out all my usual haunts to see how Mother Nature has changed them, and getting my beach buggy ready for the long season!
When do you guys get motivated?

I start getting ready Jan 1, I really need to find a winter thing. Maybe if there was more competition in asteriods? all reels re-spooled, hooks sharpened, baits changed, rigs tied, tackle re stocked and sorted, bring on the dandelions!!!

I've already geared up for next season, everything is cleaned and spooled.... but that won't stop me from buying and building more plugs

I'm screwed
I should have started already but I've done nothing but buy stuff(line, sluggos, hooks, rods, plugs, etc.).
Still have to rig 125-150 Sluggos, tie billions of leaders, put line on my reels, swap out some hooks, order new waders, haven't even sent my vs 200 back to van staal for servicing yet. This is going to be a busy month for me.

For me there's never enough time so I usually just wait till the last minute so it's a nice non stressful transition into fishing season. P.

I just got a rod back from G-loomis that was missing the rubber/plastic lining on one of the eye holes. Also got back a reel from Penn that's drag was little screwed up so the pieces are in motion. I'm going go through all the tackle this montha nd tie leader replace batteries etc too.
When do you guys usually start catch bass again (not hold overs) I know my friend has gotten into the schoolies on the vineyard in mid april.

I've been taking lessons from the Clammer....the gear is always ready..
The boss taught me you don't need to start getting the gear ready till you have parked your truck.......
