White Variant Flatwing
Here's a variation on a buddies on mines flatwing that he calls the East Coast Ghost, an all white flatwing. I tied this with a neat white variant saddle I picked up recently. I'm thinking big herring here...
12" long....
Hook: Eagle Claw 253, 3/0 or equal
Thread: White, yellow or beige
Platform: Long white bucktail
Support: Long white neck hackle tied in curve side up.
Tail: three white variant saddle hackles thied in curvve side down, each one slightly longer than the next, two strands silver flash, long yellow saddle, long pink saddle, two strands silver flash, three long white saddles. Each saddle needs to be slightly longer than the next so that the fly has a nice visual taper to it.
Body: Pearl Mylar briad
Collar: Long white bucktail
Topping (Optional) 7 long strands of peacock herl
Eye: Jungle Cock

They WORK!
Found the all white flatwing to work especially well during the AM in the spring. Try it in pale yellow or a bright yellow too!
