pencil popper question.

I'm still new at plug building and have made a few by hand. And yes this is very addicting to me. I have not been around plugs very much. I was given a few blanks from a neighbor that said they were given to him from a friend many years ago. They were made of solid hard plastic and they were through drilled. They were pencil and polaris type poppers. I filled my tub up with water and placed them in there and as I though they would they sunk. Are these fishable lures or some kind of dummy lures or heck am I just a dummy. for any imput or advise given. for the first striper of spring.
