New braid - Berkley Big Game

I saw the new release by Berkley into the super braid market this weekend at River's End. It is very similar in feel to the original Whiplash. I brought this up to the rep, and he said it's basically a "better Whiplash". He said they made the lighter stuff less likely to run into wind knot problems as they had on the original stuff, and the higher tests are more durable. Everyone I showed it to agreed that it might fit the void left by Whiplash.

The price should be on par with other braid as the 300 yard 50# is around $30, and the 1200 yard 50# is about $90 - $99. As Whiplash was my favorite braid of all time, I'll be sure to pick up a spool of this as soon as it becomes more widely available.

I have had it for a while. It is nice and being round will help prevent the wind knots.

Every year I live in fear they might do away with Fireline...

Only good sign lately is they changed the the size of the bulk spool slightly.

whiplash

Insted of coming up with new things to replace whiplash why don't they just go back to making Whiplash? I guess I'll have to try this new stuff this summer.

Talked to the Rep at the Springfield show. He said it was as "Close to Whiplash as they could get" I told him to just bring Whiplash back....he was not listening! Kinda rude...more concerned with getting his water than talking about the product.
