more flaptail questions

these things intrigue me but i've never seen one in the water... couple questions please...

1) what is the general weighting scheme and how do you want it to sit in the water? at rest?

2) how is it typically worked.. slow, fast, pops etc? i know i will experiment, but any thoughts appreciated...

thinking of making some smaller version for freshwater.

I might be small.... but I'm slow.

The old jerry sylvester flaptial i de-wired and inspected was turned from hard maple with no weighting. you fish it like a spook with twitches then heavy twitches. the heavy twithces gets the plug to porpoise under water..
