Fishing report

I still have almost a month to go before I can head for the salt, so yesterday I was fishing for Pike in the creek near my house. Caught a couple in the morning. Later in the day after watching one of my daughters team kick butt in softball I stopped at another spot where I have caught quite a few Pike before. Made a few casts, nada. Was about to leave and decided I might just as well take a couple of casts in the main flow of the river. Second cast, big hit I thought this is a good sized Pike.
I pulled a 23" Brown out hanging off my B-17 bomber.
My wife is happy now cause I brought her home a fish.

You should check with the state because you could get a pin for that fish.

Congrats

Close to 5#s
I was more suprised at what I caught it on then anything.
That size brown is around but you usually only catch them at night. 5 wt fly rod with as big a fly as you can cast, skated across quiet pools on a no moon night is the usual ticket. I hooked something one night I could'nt stop at all, it was either, one close to ten #s or a beaver.

One June fishing on our lake in Maine (off the dock actually)...my buddy pulled out a 20" rainbow...ON A CRAWFISH STYLE CRANK BAIT!!!!

I was like "WTF!"

He was happy, but didn't understand that you don't catch them like that!
