electric downrigger oil

I got 2 electric downriggers with my new used boat. The company is out of business, but I did get one working. What's interesting is that they fill these units with a non-conductive oil so that the electronics do not corrode. In the black casing, it looks like tranny fluid (reddish), but on a rag or spilled on the bench, it's yellow. Very strange. Does anyone have any idea what this stuff is?

thanks,

Yup, it is probably texaco aircraft oil no#15. We use it in all electronic hydraulic systems
