Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^^^^^^& with SMALL BALLS
Just getting back online after a hard drive failure and I see things have gotten interesting, figures I'd miss out on the action. I did happen to catch your remark that all boat fishing is for lazy bums. I'll have to take you for a ride some day, but you probably don't have any sea legs because you've been walking on the beach far too long. I'd agree with your comment for some I see out there anchored up, throwing their chucks, sitting in their easy chairs, sipping their Bud's while waiting for something to run with their bait. I'd put my balls up against yours anyday of the week, because my fishing style is far from what youv'e obviously have pictured in your mind. Take last Saturday morning, pulling out of the harbor in my 17 foot aluminum at 4:30, pitch black and 4-5 footers and a good NE blow. I can't even see the bow, let along the lobster pots I should try to avoid and with a constand salt water spray soaking my glasses, couldn't see them if I wanted to. Didn't matter thou because I had an appointment 5 miles north with some stripers and nothing was going to keep me from getting there. My GPS was the only thing guiding me, throttle was up to 3/4, speed around 20 and I'm taking the pounding, while holding trying to avoid getting thrown overboard. I've been out in worse, living on the edge of safety all in my favorite pursuit.
As to other fishing, well if you think Striper Fishing is the only fishing, then I hope you enjoy your TV when the striper season winds down. Personally, I consider myself a "complete" fisherman, capable of catching trophy specimens of all species of gamefish. I'll fish until the ice forms keeping me from launching my boat and I've caught some nice largemouth, smallmouth, pickera and salmon, all while on the brink of freezing to death. Lazy fisherman, that's not me buddy.
I better cut this short, by the sounds of things you probably have some house chores to get to and don't have time for a lengthy post. Be safe now out on that beach next time you go. I hear the beach is a dangerous place after dark, lol. Try not to let any sand get in your boots, I hear that can really be a bummer. Don't wade out too far now, you might get some water in your boats and be in mortal danger.
I've got to go now, need to order a new spray guard for my center console, broke one side off last Saturday when I got slammed into it hard on a rougue wave I couldn't see. Not to worry though, I had my foul weather gear on and didn't get my dress wet, lol.
