Whats your budget ???
I agree with Clammer, get a Furuno!!!
( color digital FCV 620 or FCV585)
But keep in mind, the machine is only as good as the transducer you get !

Furunos are nice but a little too pricy for me.
I was thinging maybe a humminbird finder/GPS combo in mono.
Might be fine for what I'm doing right now.

i had a humminbird matrix 12 and currently a matrix 67 both have been great the 67 is a little more money (discontinued) but it has a chartplotter feature.. the 12 only has the gps add on.. I don't believe you can get chartplotting for it...(i could be wrong) but still, you can get a few nifty add ons for the 12...It ran about 150 bucks for the unit and transducer and the gps add on was another 100.

YUP, that's all you need for bay fishing in a smaller boat.
No need to go with high price units.

Hey guys,
I found a nice Hummer Matrix 67 on the Hull truth. Good price and seems to work well, I just have to play with it a bit. Any tips Mrhunters?

Try Dave's Marine Electronics.com. They handle just about every make and model on the market. You can compare prices right on your own. I do believe if its made for marine use, they carry it. I got my Garmin 160 Fishfinder, and Garmin 172Color GPS for just over half the price of any I could find locally. Just a thought.

Try hummingbirds web site for the best price

Hummingbird runs specials on their web site. The prices are outrageously low. I purchased my matrix models from them for around $125.00 with speed and temp. If you catch them right you can save some money. What we liked is the service after the sale.
These people are very nice to deal with.
