Fruit
Well this rain has been good for something. I will probably have the best crop of black raspberries I have had in the 14 years I have been growing them. Most are still not ripe yet but the plants are covered. I just wish I had blueberries to go with them, damn caterpillars. I also have the best crop of weeds to go with them. P.

I have a lot of red rasberries coming too. Strawberries did o.k. but heavy rains produce an over abundance of mold yech.

Raven I am still eating jam from 2 years ago. Birds will probably start in on them soon. Catbirds are the worst culprits.

My parents have tons of raspberries, as well. When I was 5, my sister passed on to me the title of "official raspberry picker". She made me a button and certificate and everything. I was so excited until I realized that it totally sucked and that it was all a scam.
My dad used to use nets over his bushes to keep birds from the fruit. It worked on cherries, blueberries, and raspberries. You may want to look into those, Professor, if the birds are really getting your goat.

The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. ...Wait a minute, my work IS fishing. Sweet.
