Respirator Question

I was cleaning the shop today and saw my spinning mask there and wondered.........

I'm using one of those white masks that says it's good for sanding. Is that enough to prevent the AYC from ending up in my lungs? Should I get a double cannister one? Kinda curious!

it should be ....
easy way to tell , do ya have dust on your nose hairs when ya take it off ???
if so it's not working ..
the double canister doesn't work with a beard ...
it does seal better than just the white paper ones ..
since i have a beard and asthma and a chitload of other 'allergies ' this is what i have to use ..
it's a pain in the butt ....
but it's what i have to do

Those white dust masks are pretty much useless. They'll let in plenty of the small dust that is real bad for you. Do yourself a favor and pick up a decent dust mask. HEPA certified. Those canister masks may be the ticket, just double check what they are good for.

created from sheet rock...i would sweat in conventional masks
and those little white deals were a joke... now, i reach for a old t-shirt (sometimes damp) and wrap it around my whole face.
the extra tucks in your shirt. I mention this because its a double layer
and is much better than one of those little while dust masks.
then put on your goggles.

Nice one PNG. You can also call 3M on there 800 #, they will tell you the best for what your doing.

One other point, if your using a carbon filter, be sure you seal it up good when not in use as the carbon will filter whatever is moving in the air uncovered.

I use the 3M 6000 series respirator. They are pretty cheap at around $25 to $30.
