Big Bunker Cometh

We're going to have a run of big bunker, close to shore, and fairly soon.

Yea, a few hour window would be nice...also a few good rocks to stand on.

I really don't have the time to waste wondering around at night.

Yes, the Jersey bunker - I think this year we see it. I could be wrong -but I have independent sources that confirm movement of big bunker, incrementally north in places where they have not seen it in recent years either.

I flew over new jersey, long island, block island and then right up naragansett bay yesterday- I was looking out the window really hard, and actually saw a bunker event going on from 30,000 feet in the middle of NJ...there was about 50 boats all in one little cluster

it bent my 1084 over double and took line for 20-30 seconds

yes, they have been here since late maybut it has been almost impossible for the guys in the surf to get to them in the upper bay.

hopefully these fish coming will stay in the shoreline as they were doing in jersey

I have to point out that bunker do not follow the same migration routes as stripers.. if there are big bass and big bunker in NJ, chanases are that the big bass will move up to new england when the water gets too hot for their liking, but the bunker will either go up into the NJ inlets, up into raritan bay, or move out to deep water.

Will the bass leave big bunker schools for cooler water? I'm not so sure.

those are surf caught fish
We will see some PBs broken, and the succesful fishers will be changing spots and tactics to capitalize on the bunker

I would think bunker think like a bass. They go where the food is. If they aren't breeding, they're eating.

Maybe they'll end up at the mouth of the nasty, algae and plankton rich Narragansett Bay. There's still a massive school of them up there. I heard some incredible numbers in regards to how many tons are still in the Bay, maybe they'll join up if they're really coming up the coast.
