Fall Cape Question

So I get one weekend trip with the guys to N. Truro for a weekend of surfcasting and boat fishing -- weather permitting. We stay at my family cottage on the bayside.

Now here is the dilemma. I planned this years trip the weekend of the 6th of October. fairly extreme tides due to full or new moon (I forget) that I like for surfcasting. Now I find out that that weekend is Columbus Day weekend -- usually a family weekend. #$%#$!

We can all go the weekend before, but I don't care for the tides. Should I push this with the admiral? Just had our 3rd kid and it would definately be pushing the envelope.

We usually hit the beach Friday night, the boat all day saturday, then the beach Saturday around midnight....

What do you guys think?

If the plans are made dont change them.

If you have the vacation time take an extra day the week after or the week before columbus weekend that way you get to spend time with the fam and fish with the guys on the prime week.

Both the weekend you mentioned 8th and 9th are definately good days - nights for the cape. Your choice - fight or fish

According to my logs, that usually is a good weekend regardless of the tides. Go get em, and keep an eye out for the Bombas!

OUCH! Depending on how understanding the family is about your fishing....I would fess up, tell the truth about how you didnt realize at first it was THAT weekend. But make sure you apologize and make up for it by resceduling that special "family weekend" while youre at it....

You may get some heat for it now but if you say nothing think of the trouble you'll be in then!

Simplify.......

Definitely Go! I had planned a week trip for that week then had to move it up a week. The "extreme" tides are a good thing especially if you rake your own bait since the low tides will be minus. The only disadvantage will be the full moon, which could be bright for night fishing. But I like the big tides.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Go.

Well... the overwhelming advice here is to stick to the course originally charted. Perhaps a call to the Lady Sitters is in order...
