Starting Tonight on Cox 3 TV..

"NEW SALTWATER FISHING SHOW PREMIERES ON COX SPORTS

There are several good TV shows that teach anglers how to fish all over New
England, but now there will be a show that specifically features Rhode Island
locations and local anglers.

FISHING THE OCEAN STATE

"The show debuts on Tuesday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m.," said ABC6 Sports
personality Don Coyne. "It will run twice a week, Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. and on
Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Each show will air four times, with a new snow every two
weeks."

Coyne is not only a TV sports reporter, he is a RISAA member, avid angler, and
producer of the new fishing show.
"Fishing The Ocean State" will air on Cox Sports Television (Cox channel 3).
After the set of shows are done airing, they will be made available to watch at
any time on Cox On Demand.

LOCAL NAMES YOU'LL RECOGNIZE

The first episode will feature two fishing segments: Fluking with Thom "ThomCat"
Pelletier, and Fly Fishing Basics with Captain Bob Hines. There will also be a
segment on safe boating practices with Boat World's Derek Leigh, and footage of
RISAA's June 17 Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day.

The second show, which is still being edited at press time, will tentatively
feature local RISAA surfcasting legends Bill Nolan and Steve McKenna, and
learning the basics of shore fishing. Another segment will show Don Coyne
trying his hand at fly fishing. There will also be a segment on public access.
"Each half hour show will have four distinct segments, shot in Hi-Definition"
said Coyne. "Two different fishing segments, an industry segment and a RISAA
segment."

Coyne stressed though that nothing is "set in stone" far in advance in case a
hot topic comes up that needs attention in the next show.
Plans were to spend some time in August doing offshore fishing segments with
several charter captains.

Currently the title sponsor is Boat World of Warwick, RI. Other sponsors who
have committed to the show are Hooker Baits and Quaker Lane Bait & Tackle. It
is hoped that other companies will want to be an advertiser to help keep this
new show going.

The program is produced by On the Outs Productions in cooperation with Video
Xpedition. We can be reached at Fishingtheoceanstate@cox.net,
Ontheouts@cox.net, or at 401-300-SALT (7258). Ideas and comments are
encouraged. "

I dont want this to turn into yet another "spot burning" issue...Sufice it to say there are no spots mentioned and everything was shot at night this past month and don was sensitive to the spot issue and spoke in generalities on camara, Just letting everyone know its on and it should be a good local show...The High Definition is amazing ! Its the first show of its kind like this and totaly takes place in Rhode Island waters.

Awesome, cant wait to see it. If they want to do show on the mutliple locations for catching schoolies, have them give me a call, I have become the schoolie master. I may just start fishing with ultralight gear.....

Finally something worth watching on TV - besides the Red Sox.

I seem to recall some filming last fall in SoCo. Was that footage ever aired?

You will not see any "40"s on this show, it was insisted we film in july and we were lucky to catch what we caught for the camara.Steve and I tried to get them to film it in the fall but they wanted it now! However we are going to do another one in October. The show is still good at anyrate...

You and Steve should hook up with Laptew and make your own video, #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. These "segments" on shows just leave us wanting more! The OTW thing where Steve landed the 40 segment was all of 10 minutes with the commericials. Still, can't wait to see the new show.

I just heard from Don that the show will not be on tonight, due to a scheduling conflict. It will start on Sunday.
