Thumbs up Freshwater stripers in Maine!

Talked to the head fisheries biologist in charge of Cataract dam on the Saco river yesterday. The fish elevator will be raising stripers up to the freshwater this year for the first time since the dam was built in the 1800's. The stripers will be allowed to run up to the dam at Bar Mills some 15 miles upriver. With the already well established run of herring already in the Saco it should make for some interesting fishing. It should be humorous when local black bass fishermen suddenly hook into a 30lbs. striper when looking for 3lbs. smallmouth.Never caught a striper in freshwater, has anybody on the board?

Thanks for the report Mal.I never caught one in true fresh water. I've gotten them up rivers but always tidal areas. Would be cool to see some freshwater fish established around here. They have a huge freshwater fishery out west somewhere. Bass Dozer fishes freshwater bass pretty regular now.
