Cool Bumps in the night...

This has happened to me once before, but I talked myself out of the fact that it was possible...

...I was wading in waist-high water, with my herring basket tied to my waist. It was a choppy night with the waves keeping me busy dancing for balance on the rocks below. As the waves would wash on by me...I'd feel the basket pull at me sometimes assisting in the unbalancing of my feet. Sometimes the pull would be so strong that I'd fight it, and the basket would come swimming back at me...hitting the butt-end of my rod...or just bumping into my rearend. As the tide dropped, I could wade out further and got on a sandbar... the bite increased and I got into a few fish, with the basket constantly playing its game of "bumper-basket". At times I'd just reach back and push it away from me. Well, I had one incident when I got bumped behind the knee caps and reached back to push the basket away...AND IT WASN'T TOUCHING ME!!!.....it was a couple of feet away...as I stepped back to get to the basket....I freaked!!...I got bumped again...(same area) I stopped dead in my tracks and thought....MY GOD!!..THAT HAD TO BE A FISH!!...I was on a flat bar with no structure....still waist high. It took a couple of minutes to gather my thoughts but whats the deal???.....

Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them??

.....Like I said, this has happened one other time to me, but I blamed it on being tired or my imagination....(as it does get wild at times..)...but I honestly feel, a Striper or Bluefish....came in to find out where the scent was coming from, and this fish was swarming around the basket, thus bumping my legs...I can see this happening, why?....why not??...

....AM I JUST GOING NUTZ??...I know what I believe, what do you guys think??..

i'm sure it was fish...

i've seen schoolies hover within inches of my herring basket while fishing the plymouth jetty...they seem to lose all fear when staring at a penned up buffet

I was fishing deep hole at sunset, and called it quits some time after dusk. It was low tide and I was out on the bar, but not much over my knees. I turned around to wade in, and saw a BIG shadow gliding between me and shore. I think it may have been a sand shark, but it freaked me out at the time

Bloo if thats the same place we fished together at I caught fish in the areas we waded out to right where the rocks meet the sand.. So it was most likely a fish just be glad it wasn't a bloo!

Question Mako?

've seen smal(under three feet) mako's and blue sharks in less than three feet of water while surf casting here. You guys have much warmer water thus more sharks. I'd be real careful wading at night with bait around my butt. Don't you guys have Great Whites down there? dun,dun,dun,....

on the eighth day God created stripers
