annisquam river? - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

Well.... had a change "o" plans and the little woman wants to stay in gloucester on sat night so I found a campground on the annisquam. I've fished around gloucester +rockport a bit but never the river
If anyone wants to throw me a bone here or hook up it would be greatly apreciated

IRL,

You are in luck for sure. The campground is located right in the middle of the Little River Herring Run.......

You will notice lots of herring moving in and out of there as you are right on top of it. Watch for the bass devouring the bait as they try to head up to Little River

Its the first place the early bass show up as you will find several local fly guys down there just off sandbar behind Nichols Candy

Mostly small fish chasing the Herring up the river but you can still find some decent fish working through

The tides arent that great this weekend but you will find a few Im sure. There will be a lot of boat traffic through there as there is a marina just up the river.

I can hook you up with a couple of other local spots too but Im leavin for the weekend @ 12:00, otherwise I would b happy to take you around and show you the area!!

so the herring run is right at the campground??
I know everywhere is different what kind of permit do you need and how many can u take I'v got 25 live now.
I just hate goung somewhere I havent even seen before

There are no city regulations on the Annisquam side of it, but you just cant take them directly from the run. No problem there....the run is 1/2 mile away and very hard to find anyway.

But the fish swing right around the campground and head up to the run. You will find them right in the corner in front of the candy store..

You should do ok with the live stuff you have!! Good luck
