Well guys, the leatherman bit the dust. Let me tell you what a piece of junk they are. I kept that thing highly maintained too. Washed it after every trip and a nice coat of WD-40. All the inserts are rusted in. The pliers don't grip and the cutters don't cut.
I'm in the market for a new pair of pliers. Right now, I have about 80 bucks. Any reccomendations on pliers? I need something that can take a dunking. I would also prefer something where cutters can be replaced instead of the whole pliers. I would like to get something now because pliers are mandatory. Today I found myself trying to cut 30lb line with my teeth.

Oh guys, I might be getting a job. I got an application for a job. It won't be much but I'll have some spare change to play around with. CHACHING. On comes the Van Staal and a good rod of some sort. I will be able to work at night and be able to avoid people for the most part.

Buy a $5 stainless steel pair from Home Depot and put $75 into your mom's purse towards your new rod!!!! As much as I'd like a real nice set, I've going through 2 a year so I just buy the cheap pliers.... GET THE ROD INSTEAD!!!!

Actually, we have a flea market up here just about one sunday of the school months to support the school football team. Now that I think of it, this guy sells needlenose pliers for a buck a pair. They are stainless steel but not a high quality mix but it is at a price that I don't care about if I lose them or they get rusted a little. I'll just buy a few pairs.

I'm with John on this one, go with the cheep stainless pair. I bought a pair of foam handled, spring opening type at Wallmart and I have to say they aren't too bad. And I'm terrible on pliers, because they sit on my deck while fishing and all week long. Every couple weeks I need to work them over good with some WD40, but theyr'e still working good and I bought them early spring.

I'd put the money towards a blank or reel and get myself an $8 pair of pliers, tight lines.

I have ruined an EXPENSIVE pair of Snap-On pliers in the same amount of time as I did the Walmart specials!!! The moral...GO CHEAP! <img src="/Images/Happy_Face.gif"><!--e1-->

Save your Mom's money and buy a cheap set of regular needlenose pliers. The steel will be of a much better quality than the cheapo stainless steel. Everytime they start to get stiff just give them some WD 40. My last pair came from Wal-Mart. They stay in a leather holster that rarely dries out from SW drenchings. I just give them an oiling once a week. This is their second season. The cutters are starting to get so pitted they don't cut mono very well. I guess next spring I'll have to fork up $7 for a new pair.
