Redemption!

John was able to put a photo of my fish on the previous post. For those of you who told me "No way!", I'd suggest getting a glass of milk before you look at the photo, because I've heard that milk goes good with crow! Seriously, I'm no expert at "big fish", so I'd like to know what you veterans think.

#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, now I know why so you are SO dedicated to this sport. I'll have to start putting in more time at night, because this is what it's all about.

RE:Redemption!

Jamie, that picture is nice and Im glad you landed a respectable fish but the picture shows me what I thought, that bass is 28or30 lbs tops,Now, before the webmaster climbs all up in my s#$t for not being nice,Im just stating my opinion based on numerous 30lb fish I have caught. Its not 36 jamie.I wish I knew how to put up a photo to show you whyat a real 36 looks like. Last fall I had a 35 lb fish that was fat and healthy well fed in the late fall.Still, the fish was 45inches long! This is a stupid debate ,If your happy, thats all that matters, but dont ask me to lie and say that fish is something it ain't!! Congrats on a nice fish and get more!!!!

Actually, I thought you WERE being nice, so don't worry, I don't have rabbit ears. This fish has me PUMPED. I really understand why you're out there several nights each and every week. If you keep a fishing log, maybe you could put it in the Smithsonian one day.

This was a good debate. It seems to me that on any fish over 40 inches, it would be very difficult to guess the weight exactly. I would think that even a half-inch of girth would add several pounds when stretched over 40 inches. Can you guess the weight that accurately without a scale?

RE:Redemption!

pictures can be deceiving,in person I can come close to within a lb or two of estimating a fishes size.I dont carry a scale with me fishing, all my fish are thrown back now.I guess and live with that. The only fish I would keep now is something better than 47inches for the possibilities of what that fish will weigh. I never consider a fish a "big" fish until its 35lbs or better, thats my personall bench mark for a big fish,it has to be 35 or better before I call it a cow! Anything over 40lbs is what I consider a "trophy" and anything over 50lbs is what I consider the holy grail!!!!!!!

Jamie,
That is a fish to be proud of. Granted there are a lot of guys out there that have caught bigger, if you are happy with it that's all that matters. If it gives you the motivation to get out there and get some more bigger ones that's even better <img src="/Images/TooHappy.gif"><!--e13-->.
