I drove out with the boat! Only it was hooked up to the truck in front of me.....
Good party, hoompa band was excellent, but their volume made for difficult conversation. Lots of site folks attended. More faces to match with site names for me. Given the size of the crowd, I had expected more drunks! Harpoon needs to put a drain in the ground, lot of rain water in the middle of the tent. Didn't see or hear about advertised door prizes. Would have been good to advertise about the parking. Kudos to OTW and sponsors on first year tourney of this size.

Definitely had a good time. Was able to put a few more faces to site names. The beers were tasty as was the chowder and sausages. Lots of people and for the most part, everything ran smoothly. My only two suggestions for next year are; better PA system (tough hearing) and having the contestants get up on stage vs in front of so entire crowd can see.
A couple pictures....

Fresh Harpoon drafts, many fish stories, and a solid ompah band always makes for a good time!
> With a couple of tweaks to the ceremony to be sure everyone can see/hear the winners, this should be a pretty solid annual event. For $25, this is a great deal. Not only do you get a shot at a Grady White, but the t-shirt, and opportunity to win some great prizes with a little luck.
Great job OTW / Harpoon.

Nobody gets everything right the first time. But I still give OTW a solid B+ for the whole tourney, and yesterday's party was excellent. Only minor criticism I have is the lack of a seating area for us geezers Four hours straight on you feet can be hard on people with back or leg problems.

I sat on the talegate of the Toyota truck with the Toyota Babe!!
That was our only complaint too , no seats...no seats at all! we purposefully drove up early to grab good seats but that just ended up meaning standing on the pavement longer.

I had a great time at the brewery...very nice meeting new board members, seeing some familiar faces and hanging out with the cripples! UFO was the best! Got a couple of special prizes from some vendors that some others were jealous of...sorry redlite! Oh and Moses I'm sorry about my husband! Good job OTW!

Geez, Mike. You musta enjoyed a few. Could have sworn that was a Ford........
Tynan is gonna have to put some cookies in the cookie jar... He inadvertantly caught Starfish with an elbow shot that would have knocked most guys down! Hope you're not too bruised up there, girl!

I thought it was pretty good - especially as an inaugural event.
I would drop the noise level a bit by the Lederhosen band and have then sing Ein Prosit auf Deutsch(not that I remember the words). And yes, seating should have been made available, especially for those that needed it. I slipped and cracked my bad knee just before leaving home and it was painful standing all day (and locking up on the way home). A true German beer fest has rows upon rows of tables lined up as there is plenty of drinking and sitting . The other "Fest" items missing were the St Pauli Girls with the 5-7 1 liter ceramic mugs and the ladies with the schnapps tray - but I digress
Yes, make the stage available for presenting the awards - was difficult even 50 feet back to get any kind of view.
Kudos to the OTW / Harpoon staff for a good event. And thanks for the HeffeWeizen
I was glad to finally meet Linesides after talking over emails for the past 4-5 something years

Where were all the S-B guys. I walked around for a bit but didn't really see anyone from the site that I recognized. Next year we should have some way to find each other.
I did spend allot of time drooling at the Van Staal stuff though.

She gave Smokey and I hats with the new Toyota Truck logo on them!
When I saw everyone from the site we were gathering around the first table after the puddle heading towards the Oompah band.

John, it was indeed a pleasure and honor to meet a person with such passion and dedication to a great cause. I hope you took that little brochure I left with you when you departed. If you don’t have it, I can fax another one or email you another one.
I would like to tell you in an email why I did it.
I also had an opportunity meet and introduce my self to the Eel Man. I happen to recognize him from the web pictures a SB.com.
I told him I thought it was more then likely not a good idea to post his picture on the site. Some how I got the impression he didn’t care.
However he was allot more cordial in our brief conversation, then I thought he would have been to me. He was almost kind.
It’s what we love best in him. He will always tell you what he thinks. I love you man!
I agree. It was a great time. It should be something that will last a long time. I believe it will be bigger and better each consecutive year they run it. The trophies were really great. Very befitting a great tournament that is, and will become.
I will ditto some changes that need to bee made. And some I will add. I hope there is some power here to see that these ideas get to them!
1. You will definitely need a bigger tent from here on out.
2. May be some more vendors to help pass the time.
3. Speakers in the rear.
4. Lower the volume on the band.
5. Put the prizes and winners up on the stage where they can be seen and fell like the winners they really are.
6. Seating and tables.
6. I would like to see a Men’s, Woman’s and Children division added, with the one over all largest fish coming from any of these divisions.
7. And finely, the season needs to be longer. It would be fare to the people up north in the spring and fair to the people in the south of the program in the fall. The Sothern folks have the fish by May first; however they don’t get to see any of the fall migration in the tournament... I feel the real monsters of the tournament will come in the spring and the fall. May first to the last day in October would do it.
For me, I would like to see it to the end of November!
If I left any thing out, please adlib. It would help if some one knows how we could get a list to them. I believe they care and would listen.
I think even they didn’t anticipate the turn out in the rain. I don’t know the final count of attendance; however one of the OTW reps told me they had approximately 2000 applications for the tournament.
That’s it. Later, L
P.S. Ditto, Kudos to the OTW / Harpoon staff for a good event.

I had a great time as well. Met some new members and met up with the regulars. Nightfighter, I wasn't even buzzed. I was pulling off the braclet and caught her in the chest. She is a tough little lady for sure. I don't know where I am going in the after life since I spilled a little beer on the commandment carrying Moses. That is one way to meet a board member. The geriatric crew was standing behind the VS booth. Starfish, can get what she wants when she wants.

Having beer spilled is no problem, kinda added to the day. A few of us kept it going down the street at the Boston Beer Garden where we caught the end of the Pats game. I miss going out on sundays...
