Question New Jersey Guy Needs Local Info

Hello All,

Let me tell you... You have a nice web page.

I want to trailer my boat up to MA for some good Striped Bass action an would like some local information!

Where should I go for my first trip to the area?
Do you have good boat ramps or are tides an issue?
What ramp would you recommend?
What area's should I fish?
Any recommendations as to where I should lodge? I like a place that's cheap, has parking for my rig, and where my boat and gear will be safe!
When do you get your Striper runs? I'd like to do something in October... But I'm open to suggestions.

I hate to sound like a "newbie" but I've never explored your area and would like to get the lown down before I start riding thru the streets with my boat behind me trying to find a ramp that opens before noon! (it's happend to me)

Any help would be great! If your ever in my area drop me a line or hit our site.... BASSBARN.COM!

Sharky - welcome to S-B, I was one of the early members over there but I honestly haven't been online there in a while - good to see he's doing well...

October can be excellent here when the weather cooperates and one of the best places to be is southern Mass/Buzzards Bay area and Rhode Island... A link to the Mass Public Access Ramps is around here in the boating section somewhere... What size boat do you have? Things can be REAL SNOTTY that time of year and will determine where you can go... To give you an idea, when I was talking to a member here a couple weeks ago he was telling me about a friend of his that said his new 38 footer really didn't go any faster in the snot than his 25 Grady did but it took the waves over the bow and helm much better - just to give you an idea...

Cool Size matters

John,

I've got a 23ft Walk-Around with a Merc. 5.7 I/O. I'm loaded for big game with out riggers, radar, color scope, and the rest. I don't mind the rough stuff and the like when I get stuck in it or when I have no choice... But I would love to be a Fair Weather fisherman. Is late Aug. or Sept. any better???

I could ditch the boat and become a man of the suds if the weather is an issue.... I fish both ways!

I will do what I have to for a shot at some nice fish.
