yes ... in years past, we used to slam them ... and good-size fish up into early December in the Rye, Larchmont area on flies, swimming plugs, etc. There was a herring run that took place and we would be the only boat around hundreds of yards of breaking fish ... That was in the late 1980s, have not been down there in more than 10 years, but could still be going on.

Thanks all for your help,

I'm planning to introduce my 12 year old nephew to seabass, I want to come with a nice, but not expensive spinning rod for this even as a gift.....I was looking at the rods in walmart and they are just the $$ investment I want to make, but the choices overwhelmed me. What pound test line should I be looking for to chase stripers on a spinning rod?

I visited NY F&G and from what I can gather as in NH & ME you don't need a saltwater license, am I right?

I just found out that Manor Park in Larchmont Harbor does not allow any fishing at all.

Does anyone know if they have posted signs???
