End Zone Dancing Football Players

Hey does anyone besides me think thoses end zones shows the players put on a little stupid looking? I mean they bust thier ass in a very manly way bringing the ball downfield, play after play, score a touchdown, and then do a queer looking girlie dance in the end zone to celebrate! I would like to see one guy just toss the ball to the ref and job away for a a change.

One one my favorite players of all time (even though he wasn't a Raider) Barry Sanders, scored more touchdowns than all these clowns of today put together !!!
And all he did was hand or toss the ball to the official and head back to the sideline!!!

As did Emmit Smith, who also scored a crapload of touchdowns.

I forget who it was, but someone once summed it up very nicely when asked why he didn't do any dancing after he scored--"when I score a touchdown, I want to look like I've been there before"

What gets me are the guys who celebrate a TD or sack when their team is behind 35-3

I've been tired of watching these jack-holes dance just because they do their job. That's all it really is. I dont do a jig every time I cater a meal or paint a window. Does anyone else? When Giambi hit his first homer at Yankee Stadium and pumped his fist rounding the bases, Torre told him "Good! Next time, act like you have done it once or twice before." There is a thing called conducting yourself with quiet dignity. They should all learn about it. And just DO THEIR JOBS!!!

Well said DP. The guy who started all this chest thumpin stuff

was Joe Namath after they beat Baltimore in the AfC/NFC playoff.

I can still see it, running off the field holding his index finger high in the air,"we're #1".

Changed the whole character of the game, and that's all it is, a game. A great one, but stiil a game.

Football has changed along with what our society is like today. It's all about "Me". It's not as bad as the NBA though. I miss playing football so much. Whenever I scored(not often enough) i walked right up to the ref and handed him the ball. I think they should just put some rules in place like they have in college for excessive celebration and start penalizing them 15 yards on the kickoff.

IMO it all started with that numbnutz Gastineau and his stupid sack dance. Then, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson started doing the end zone thing after scoring. Followed by the Fun Bunch, or Smurfs, or whatever they called themselves, with the Redskins who turned it into a regular chorus line .

Doesn't happen as much in college because they have a much stricter "excessive celebration" rule. And of course, college coaches have much better control of their players. Not too many college receivers can tell their coach to eff off after they get flagged, like TO does.

I think there already is a rule in the NFL against excessive celebration.
I don't think they enforce it unless it involves more than one player.
If I was in charge t.o. would get fined just for speaking.
BUT....
Brady(who can't run) deked Urlacher and wasn't killed.
A little bit of celebration.
I'd give him a pass on that one.

Quiet dignity? I know it's a different sport but best example?
