woops.

I think i have come to the conclusion that my #2 favorite surfrod is not what i thought it was- I originaly thought it was a Lamiglass SB 121 3 M, but after reading the catalog and measuring the diameter of the butt, it turns out that I have been using a SB-121 5 M-

I love this blank its a howitzer-

anyone else use this blank??

Hmm - sitting around measure butts? Don't drink? You do the math .

Eben - I've been meaning to give you a ring. I've still got your danny stuck on the dashboard of my truck. The freaking hook got caught in the heat vent thingy.

YOU HAVE TO GET OUT A LITTLE MORE. SITTING AROUND MEASURING ROD BUTTS IS NOT THE SIGN OF A HEALTHY MIND. IF YOU ARE GETTING REALLY BORED, I'LL DROP OFF A FEW RODS FOR U TO MEASURE. ED

Forget the butt size. They're pretty close, about 4/100". Measure the tip. The 3M has a 14/64" tip. The 5M has an 18/64". The difference is apparent just by looking at it.

The 5M weighs a ton and is as stiff as a pool cue. It's kind of hard to mistake it for the action of a 3M

I would compare this rod to the allstar 1209, only more whippy

it can throw a 9 inch storm shad to the moon.

Sounds like a 3M. "Whippy" is a word I'd never use in conjunction with a 5M. The 1209 is whippy compared to a 5M. The only thing I ever used that was more of a pool cue was a Harnell 552.

Either way, they're both great rods. Enjoy it. In the long run, what matters is how it fishes for you. And both the 3M and 5M fish great.

when i say whippy, i mean parabolic- when you lean into a fish it bends down to the reel- not on a 20 lber but when yu have something large and are leaning on it it bends nicely- the tip is certianly not whippy.

Mike CC built this rod about 3 years ago- Russ aka bud8 fan bought it from him at a mass leg, and i bought it off russ about 2 years ago-
russ told me it was a 1213, so maybe it is???

maybe mike remembers

If it's the rod I've seen you cast with it's the 3 no doubt.

The 5 is a serious meat stick.
