Shimano Sustain

Allright I'm looking to get a high quality spinning reel. I was looking at Van Staals but they only come in the right handed models(for some reason, I can use a right handed conventional but not a spinning reel). I like the Sustains. They are moderately priced and seem to have the same features as the Stellas. My only question is what size? This is going to be for light plugging. The 4000 seems like a good choice but the 5000 has a bigger capacity. I'm torn. This is going on a 10 foot rod by the way. Hopefully a Ron Arra rod.
Now while you are asking me, "How are you going to pay for this?" Let me explain. I like to set goals for myself. This is called, "Motivation to get a job" list. I have three rods and reels on it. The Loomis/Mag Elite eeling combo, Mag525/Lamiglas Baitheaving combo and the Sustain/Ron Arra plugging combo. Plus a new surfbag and pliers. If and when I get sick on the job or I'm having a bad day, I can just look at the list and see why I should continue working. Pretty ingenius eh? My parents even like that idea. After I get all that stuff, I'll have to have a new list.

Anyways, what would be better, the Sustain 4000 or 5000? Or if you can think of another high quality spinning reel that can handle Whiplash, please tell me.

I would go with the 5000 for the extra capcity you'll need it when you hook that 50lb fish. I went with the Stradic mainly for the price but also I prefer the lower retrive ratio. The only complaint I have is it gets annoying having to center the bail before casting.

Good to hear your setting some goals now... Not trying to upset the apple cart but if you can move sooner as opposed to later, a buddy of mine has some Sustains at cost, <a href="mailto:bigmike30b@aol.com"> Big Mike </a><!--url-->... You also may want to consider an All Star/Breakaway instead of the Arra and save a couple bucks...

The 5000 and 6000 are the EXACT same reel except the 5000 has a lower line capacity. so if you are gonna go with the 5000 then you might as well get the 6000 that gives you the option of more lin. i use the 4000 on an 8 1/2 foot plugging rod that i built. it's got 30lb powerpro. the 6000/5000 was too large for that rod.
