Spinner RPM's

I am contemplating building a spinner again and was wondering what RPM you would prefer to have the plugs rotate at. P.

dayton grearmotor
mod. 3m103...full load rpm..10

does a 10' 4" pvc pipe with 6 surf rods clipped on at once for hours on end...works very well on plugs too.

3m104 does 6 rpm.but maybe to slow for thin poxies.

BOAT fish do count.

4-5 rpm seems to be good.
I made one of those ferris wheel types to do 12 at a time but learned the hard way that the plugs must be secured in a way that they cant rotate on the hooks. Epoxy warts are an ugly thing
I found that taping the tail loop to the hook works.

Mine runs around 15rpm..

you can use gears/chain or belta/pulleys to get the desired speed...

I had a 18 rpm motor, spun too fast for plugs that aren't round.
Got a Dayton shaded pole gear motor 3M098 turns 4 rpm. I like it. Probably $65.......don't remember exactly.

If I were to build another spinnner (which I may at the end of this plug building season) I would opt for a AC/DC gear motor with Electronic speed control, Then, rather than changing speeds by changing belts and driven gear (as I can do now if the need arrises) I could change speeds with a turn of a dial.....
