Get Together.....SO?

What's the reports?....

Went with Redcrbbr, Specialist, Canalrat, and GBOutdoors to the canal.....

Was slow at first, Specialist got a nice fluke right away......chummed up nice, and after awhile, we started getting hits....I missed the first one...., but then a bit latter got into a good run....ended up with a 29"+.....and fat.....since it was "small", I decided to keep it and not enter it in the tourney....weighed in at 9 1/2 lbs.....

Canalrat got one other smaller one before I left.....

GB decided the rock climbing wasn't for him, and stayed back about 100 yards from where we were.

Specialist and Canalrat.....how'd ya do after Red and I left?

Nice spot, but CR, you were right, quite a workout getting there, and more of a workout getting back! I left early as I did cause I didn't wanna climb those rocks back when it was dark.... But thanks for taking us there, glad you got your first of the season, and helped me end my drought as well!

After that, decided I had enough, was a long day, as I was up at 6 AM, so went home and made the wife happy I was back early....

So, how'd everyone else do?

BTW....funniest thing I saw/heard of the day....Bassmaster slamming his plugs on the rocks and saying "These are BM plugs, they can take it!" (Okay, the pants added to the hilarity as well....)

Second funniest.....Specialist saying that he was starving just as we got to the fishing spot.....come on Bill, the walk and rock climbing didn't burn up THAT many calories......I was still stuffed....

Thanks to all, especially MikeCC for the use of his shop.....was a great time, as usual....

The chumming Red did before he left did the trick for me. I got 2 one was about 11", the other 24" or so. We missed a few as well. Tony got one more also. We left about 20 minutes after you guys. The walk back was not as bad as I thought it would be. Used the breakwater to our advantage. We left there and got some chow, and gas. Then we hooked up with John, Schooliemonster, and Fishpart, as Ballstons beach. I had one bump there, no fish were landed. Fishpart, and Sm went home, and John, C-Ratt, and myself were going to go to Head of the Meadow, untill we ran into a guy in the parking lot who told us it was all munged out. So we headed to Nauset light beach, for a little. Still no fish. We dropped off John, and headed home. I will deffinately be fishing that Canal spot again. The fluke was tasty, my wife and I had it for lunch.

First of all THANKS to mikecc for offering the place, and thanks to everyone who came, it was fun.
BM, chrisL and I hit the beach and the fish were sparse and picky. I got 3 bass and a baitfish(12"bluefish) all on a yo mag darter and a gold bomber. Had hits on eelskin but the fish just did not show up like they should have. The biggest stiper was about 8 pounds or so(twinkee). Many sandeels on beach but no stripers

BM got some baitfish as well and Chris, I don't know about Chris,he had some line twist troubles, I do know he got hits but it was like last week they were mouthing the plugs only and not eating the whole thing like the hooks would be outside their mouth and ou end up snagging the fish. I snagged 2. the largest though was lip hooked.

We had fun, got off beach just after midnight BM didn't fart too much
BM and I have to stay out of candy(tackle) stores, can't help ourselves.

anyone else get anything?

Oh ya, Bill don't always believe what ya hear about mung, find out for yourself, sometimes it's just spotty or very little.

After Bob and I left the gang at the wall walk we hit the beach in Westport Bob got a nice 30" fish on bait and I got one about the same size on his other rod at the same time. Nice spot on the canal crat next time I will be ready for the walk on water. I left Bob on the beach at 2:00 so he may have hit more fish as he was staying till dawn. Great to see all again and to put faces to a few more S-B freinds

Once the tide turned I was getting hits every drift but the fish were very small. The wind was not good but at least I guided to some fish and once again John R. showed his stuff as a GUIDE!

My guests and I did well on schoolies and a couple nicer fish, but we were after all cheeting. My largest for the night was a very fat 32" fish which came on my 8 inch grub. We had a few other bigger fish come on the grub, but all the schoolies came on the 5-1/2" split tail. They were feeding bigtime when we got there and we probably put 30 in the boat before they shut down. Nothing to write home about but 18-20 inch fish on light tackle ain't to bad. Thanks for the grub, especially the barr meat, feel the need to hibernate some tonight.

Unhappy caught by a fish

Not good...or should I say bad !! Myself, Bazza and Milo hit the east end of the ditch with jigs, not much action to speak of until my bike was knocked over by a gust of wind and broke almost a foot off the top of my 10' saberson of a %~@!*, but thats the good news!
In the morning we got into a ton blues, 4#-6# average, having fun till I buired a 3/0 hook in my index finger "right where the line is released in my cast". The bottom treble was deep in the fishs throat while the top treble was almost to the bone. It took us a while to cut its head off and dislodged it. PAIN!!!!!! I hate it!!! Again SOB.....I walked from Mishaum Pt. to where we we're parked, over a mile and half. The doc had a witch of a time trying to find the piont, he had to use two different cutters to cut the hook off the ~!@$^& smack- it, I hate them lures!....

ALWAYS crush your barbes for blues

I'm still pissed about my ROD!

it was a perfect day(sorry bout yours tony), good food, and a really great bunch of people at the BBQ. GB and i headed out with crat, spec, and steve. nice spot crat and thank-you for sharing. gb, steve and i left, steve went home with his rock wall climbing prize. i took a bit of a digger and kinda broke steves wifes bucket, couple of scrapes and a little bit of leakage on me not the bucket.
on the way back to m&d's had to stop and buy some mackeral and while there some guy trying to buy some fresh poggies from new jersey for some old lady who loves to eat them, everyone there was hoping he was talking about porgy. he was pretty persistant about the poggies though.
Greg and i ended up in westport just before high tide and he plugged and plugged, while i chunked and chunked. had a couple of small taps like scup or real small blues... it was a good sign. about 2 hours on the falling tide i got the one in the pic and found out the batteries were dead in my camera(gotta love kids) just after the pic was taken my other rod took a hit and greg pulled in another one. this one had gotten tangled up in my rig as it was dragging around maybe 50 feet of nylon cord a piece of chain for a sinker and a stainless hook on a wire leader. greg and i removed the gear from the fish and released it. didn't measure it but my guess would be around 28". it slowed down after that and i missed one or two small hits.
Greg left around 2am and i started fishing eels with not much happening till around 3:30. i caught a couple of schoolies and then i caught a 34" bass around 5 am. seeing how i didn't have a a camera i'm not gonna try to enter it.oops no witness
my fishing partner showed up about a half hour after that and my eels were getting beat up by small blues. i ended up catching a couple 2-3 pound blues.
my partner and i were fishing side by side and managed to get tangled up and after screwing around in the surf for a bit finally decided to cut his line. when i reeled in i had a 19" fluke attached to my line and the eel was still kicking. the down side is i didn't notice the knot in the super braid line while reeling it in and actually started rolling up 3 lines somehow onto the reel. i wasn't even gonna try at that point. it was about 7am and i had had enough. it was a good night.

Tony sorry to hear about your finger. That stinks, about the rod as well. Maybe you should stay away from the ditch for awhile, bad kharma.

Red the night started with a fluke, and ended with a fluke. My fluke was tasty, how was yours?

slip I hear ya about checkin it out yourself. We were getting pretty tired at that point, and it was best that we went back towards home. Got in at 4am. Now I think I am coming down with an upper respriratory infection.

Goose - sorry that you had a bad day - that all sucks...

I beleive that Sabre will replace the blank for free, might take you about a year as it did mine, but it does happen....

Well, thanks everyone for showing up and to the Folks at M&D's for putting us up (or up with us ) , Got to meet a few more faces, have some great Bambi & Portugese food from our South Coastal Mass members ... Lotsa good food followed by the ususal light BS'ing that happens at these shindigs.... BM put on a plug critique in the river - had some AWESOME darter action going and the Giant Pikies kicked butt too...

Well - Schoolie, Fishpart, and I hit CG Beach in Eastham briefly after sunset where the weed was as thick as I've ever seen it (I'm not a regular but it was pretty bad ), absolutely unfishable and a good 15 minutes of mung removal from line to be usaeable again... OK, Plan B, drove to Truro to hit Ballstons, met up with Specialist & C-Ratt. We were the only people fishing in that general area... About 40 teens doing the bonfire/keg stand thing but that was aboit it... We leapfrogged a bit of beach will eels and plugs finding the less weedy apots along the beach but no dice. Conditions were OK for a change in between the weeds but no fish...

Schoolie & Fishpart decided to crash, me Spec & C-Ratt decided to go to Head of the Meadow, we met a guy on the way out that said that was all munged up and he had just come from there.... So we headed to Nauset Light Beach was weeded.... 2 am sound asleep ...

Bill & Tony, thanks for the lift - S.M. -> thanks to your wife and mom for the place to stay

Thanks for everyone coming and having fun (again at least at the eating part) and Goose, wish you had better luck....

A Chris.

Did I mention to you that I got chased out of the water by a very large and very annoyed seal @ Nauset this Saturday? Apparently I was wading a little to close to his buffet.

If there are no fish there - it's gotta be b/c of these monstrosities.

FWW - Schoolie Monster was using his almost 5 yr old daughter to fend off a seal at Nauset Light Beach Saturday morn when we had the families out on the beach... Yeh, lots of seals - wish they would haunt someplace else...

John...

And to top it off, after getting chased by that sack of blubber, I retired to the sand sled and took a nap.

Too long of a nap, I woke up and the sun was setting and I was six hours late getting home (and I wanted to stop by and say hello to you guys in Wareham, which was just a hop skip and a jump away).

Missus got me with the frying pan that night.

Sorry guys but contrary to popular beliefs , the seals are there because there are fish there ! Anyway , thats's what Striperman told us at the Mass Bass Show.

Sorry to hear that the fishing was scarce.

Thanks everyone for the card. It was very thouightful.
I'm donig good but dizzy from medicine. Hope to see the doc today to adjust.

Its not cause of the seals . Stripers are one of their favorite foods . If there are seals on a beach during the day go to that same beach at night and catch large . They are and will be there . Some of it is cause the big schools of bait are out in deeper water so that where the fish are . And the heated water maybe a part of it . Just like butts there are lots of opinions so take it with a grain of salt .

Goose, that totally sucks about the hook and your rod breaking. I guess you've had better nights fishing Maybe all the bad mojo was wiped clean in one swoop, hopefully gone for good. Now keep all body parts away form hooks.

Goose, I missed this the first time around. That does stink, though I'll bet the hand is alot better now than the rod. I had a similar thing happen to me a few years ago, with the fish hooked with one treble, my thumb with the other.

Not cool... took the doctor a while to get it out, but at least my thumb was numb from the local.

I was lucky in a way, the back hooks broke off the atom popper when the fish thrashed (that's how hard he yanked), and I didn't have the addition of bluefish teeth to contend with.

Of course, then I had to drive myself to the doctor, and I had my truck which was a stick shift.

I hope you're healin' up ok.
